Fall Foosball League
Big City, Allston MA
New to the area and looking for an activity?
Beating everyone in your college dorm and want a new challenge?
Or just played once or twice and had a lot of fun?
Come check out the foosball league at Big City Bar & Grill in Allston! We are taking sign-ups for new individuals and full teams for the fall foosball league. League is a fun, relaxed way to get introduced to some fun people and a great game. The league is fully handicapped and skill ranges from complete beginners to competitive tournament players.
Here’s how the league works:
Each team is composed of 4 players, who will each play in 7 games a night (5 doubles, 1 singles, and 1 four-on-four.) Each game is played as a ‘race to 7’ (first team to 7 points wins, no win by two.) After the raw outcome of the game is decided, a handicap spot will be added based on the difference in handicap between the two competing teams. The winning team is the team with most points after the net result (real points + handicap points) are added.
Total points from all games are tallied to determine the winner of each week, and total points from the whole season determine the standings at the end. Handicaps are adjusted weekly based on the previous week’s results.
Individual players are welcome to sign-up as full time or substitute players, we always have teams looking for extra players both on a permanent basis and week by week. The cost is $5/week/player, the full amount of which is distributed in the form of prizes and awards at the end of the season. If you don’t think you can make it most weeks, but still want to play you can sign up as a substitute player and the team captains will contact you if a regular player can’t make it.
Typically the 1st place team receives 2 to 3 times their entry fees back as a prize. Seasons last from 6 to 10 weeks depending on the size of the league. There is a bar kick-in for additional prizes at the end of the season as well.
Signups are taking place now to mid-September. The fall league will run from the second or third week of September through the first week of December, with a break for Thanksgiving.
Please contact Kent (League Director) to sign up or to ask any questions: bostonfoosball@gmail.com or 617-223-1658.

WHERE:
Teams will be based out of BIG
WHO:
If you do not have a team together, sign up by yourself and you will be placed on a team.
It isn't necessary to be able to play every single match (although it is obviously preferable); if you must miss a match, your team can use a substitute player to fill in for you.
One alternative is to put more than 4 players on your
But if that isn't an option, and you cannot make at least half of the regular matches, you should consider playing as a substitute player.
WHY:
HOW MUCH:
All entry fees will be paid out in the form of prize money to
Their will be weekly dues of $20/team (= $5 x 4 players) for each weekly match.
Full season dues ($50-$60/player w/6 team season) are due at the start of the season.
All teams must have fully paid regular players to continue playing beyond week # 3 in the season.
HOW:
Each Boston foosball league weekly match will consist of 5 Rounds of 3 Games each; games are played to 7 points (it works better for handicapping).
Each Round will include two Games of Doubles and a third game from among the following: Singles, Goalie War, Forward Shootout, or 4 on 4.
Each player will play 5 doubles games, 1 game of some form of singles (regular, Goalie War, or Forward Shootout), and the 4 on 4.
Some doubles matches are 'open' allowing the players to choose positions and others are 'roto', which requires the players to switch position each time that their team scores.
A match is won/lost/tied based upon the number of Round Points earned.
A player will be assigned an initial handicap score for the first match. Thereafter, their handicap score will increase or decrease based upon their 'Game wins' record.
All games are played to 7 points, then the handicap point spots are added and the winner is the player with the highest overall score.
Players may receive/give up to a 5 point spot in a game to 7, this forces the better player to play their best game to win (which is better experience for their opponent) and helps the newer player remain competitive as they are gaining experience. As the newer player improves, their handicap will rise and their point spots will diminish (so enjoy those low handicaps while you can!! LOL ).

SCHEDULE:
Presuming a 6 team
For summer, it looks like all teams & matches will be played at Big City Billiards. However, if anyone has a 4 person team that would like to play out of another location, please contact me to see if that can be arranged.

~Even if both teams are from the same location, one team will be 'home' & the other 'visiting'.
The 'Visiting' team must declare its line-up first, the 'Home' team declares its line-up second (this is a possibility for a strategic advantage).
The NUMBER of teams from each location will determine the actual % of home matches.
